Featuring Dr. Cindy Yong – Aesthetic Dentistry at Everwell Dental
For many people, achieving a straighter smile no longer has to mean traditional braces. At Everwell Dental, Dr. Cindy Yong offers Angel Aligners — a clear aligner therapy designed to gently guide teeth into better alignment. As part of our Lifetime Patient Journey, this treatment not only improves appearance but can also support long-term oral health.
What Are Angel Aligners?
Angel Aligners are a system of custom-made, removable trays designed to move teeth step by step. Each aligner is worn for around 1–2 weeks, applying gentle, controlled forces until the teeth reach their planned positions.
Clear aligners are popular with patients because they are:
- Discreet – almost invisible during everyday interactions
- Comfortable – smooth trays without wires or brackets
- Convenient – removable for meals, brushing, and flossing
- Predictable – supported by digital planning for expected results
(Angel Aligners are a TGA-listed medical device used to treat mild to moderate cases of crowding or spacing. They may not be suitable for every patient.)
The Angel Aligner Journey
Step 1: Consultation
Dr. Cindy begins with a full dental examination, oral health assessment, and discussion of your goals. This ensures aligner treatment is safe and appropriate.
Step 2: Digital Records & Planning
Using a digital scanner, photos, and x-rays (where required), precise records of your teeth are taken. These are used to design a treatment plan that maps how your teeth will move and provides a preview of the likely outcome.
Step 3: Custom Aligner Fabrication
Your personalised series of aligners are fabricated to fit your teeth exactly and guide them through each planned stage of movement.
Step 4: Wearing Your Aligners
- Aligners are typically worn 20–22 hours a day
- Changed every 1–2 weeks according to the treatment plan
- Only removed for eating, drinking (except water), brushing, and flossing
Step 5: Progress Reviews
You’ll attend regular reviews with Dr. Cindy to confirm treatment is progressing as expected and to receive your next series of aligners.
Step 6: Finishing & Retainers
Once your teeth are in their final positions, retainers are prescribed to help maintain the result and prevent movement. Additional cosmetic enhancements such as whitening or Smile Design may be considered if suitable.
Combining Angel Aligners with Smile Design
Dr. Cindy often integrates Angel Aligners with Smile Design, a process that carefully considers the size, shape, and harmony of your teeth and face. By first aligning your teeth with clear aligners, Smile Design can then refine aesthetics with treatments like whitening, bonding, or veneers if clinically appropriate.
This combined approach ensures your smile is not just straighter, but also natural-looking and in harmony with your facial features.
Understanding the Limitations
While clear aligners are effective for many patients, they do have limitations. Angel Aligners may not be suitable for:
- Severe bite discrepancies or complex jaw issues
- Patients who cannot commit to wearing aligners as recommended
In such cases, Dr. Cindy will discuss other treatment options or specialist referrals to ensure you receive the most suitable care.
